Alexandra Raisman

Aly Raisman was a U.S. Olympic captain of the team who has won gold medals in 2012. Aly Raisman holds the distinction of having six Olympic medals, and two World Championships gold medals. Aly is from Needham which is located in Massachusetts. The passion she has to gymnastics can be traced to her 18-month old "mommy with me" class. Aly is a leader in the gym and off and an unwavering proponent of body positivity. She was also recently, as she has spoken out against Larry Nassar in his sentencing trial. Aly Raisman, born in 1994, took up gymnastics when she was when she was a child. She played a key role in helping the U.S. team to win the 2011 World Championships. The following year she was awarded two gold medals--one in the team competition and another in the single floor workout--along with a bronze in beam gymnastics at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. In 2016, Raisman returned to compete at the Olympics in Rio and won silver medals at the individual all-around final, as well as the floor exercise and gold in the women's team gymnastics competition. Raisman confessed in 2017 she was sexually harassed by former team doctor Larry Nassar. The following year, she brought a lawsuit with USA Gymnastics as well as the U.S. Olympic Committee.
