Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine was a Philadelphia native, was born and raised in the city. Her mother Pam is a former backup singer for Philadelphia International Records. In the age of five Her father was appointed as one of the cities' Historic Strawberry Mansion curator. The family then moved to the historic mansion. As a 2005 Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts graduated and a major in singing. Sullivan had a role as contralto for the choir for children and after a few years, in the adult chorus. Sullivan received little exposure to secular music. She recalls that she was singing solo in a church service when someone recommended signing her on the gospel label. However, she wasn't ready for the task. After that, McDonald's held a contest that was open to children living in cities. I was allowed to sing "Accept The Grace God Gives" in it's Showtime At the Apollo. And the audience was very supportive. In the year 13 she performed to Stevie Wonder for his grandson's birthday. Sullivan was initially signed to Jive Records at the age fifteen. Sullivan was initially signed by Jive Records around the age of fifteen. She produced an entire album but this album didn't get released. Sullivan was later dropped off the record label. She had a good working connection and Missy Elliott. Elliott produced some of her tracks which included "Backstabbers", which was written by Timbaland.
