In America, the early performance arts achievements of the young Maureen FitzSimons (who we know as Maureen O'Hara) would definitely have put her in the child prodigy category. For a child of Irish heritage surrounded by gifted parents and family, they had innate talents. Maureen was welcomed into the safe haven of her parents on August 17 1920 located in Ranelagh (a suburb within Dublin), Ireland. Marguerita FitzSimons was a gifted contralto. His father, Charles FitzSimons, managed an enterprise in Dublin and also owned part of the renowned Irish soccer club "The Shamrock Rovers." Maureen FitzSimons placed second in a family of six FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara rounded off this gorgeous group. Maureen was a great athlete and played rough, athletic sports when she was a young. The combination of this naturally-born interest with her ability in performing was astonishing. As evidenced by getting almost every Feis award for drama and performances in the theater that her nation offered. She was accepted at the Abbey Theater by age 14, and she continued to pursue her dream of opera as well as classical theater and singing.
